Process

Ik heb een schaalmodel gemaakt voor een monument dat past in een publieke ruimte. Mijn onderzoek begon met een fascinatie voor monumenten gecreëerd door de natuur. Ik dook in een ingewikkelde kwestie van de schepping van het universum. Eén theorie vertelt ons dat het leven in het universum is ontstaan ​​uit wolkenvorming. Stel je voor: kleine stof- en metaaldeeltjes komen samen in één klont of wolk. Door gas en het magnetische veld wordt het steeds groter en groter. Dit wordt gezien als de eerste stap in het planeetvormingsproces. Het is een zeer korte versie van hoe onze wereld mogelijk is samengekomen. ​

Met deze (troebele) gedachte in mijn achterhoofd wilde ik iets creëren dat past in de wereld van nu. Ik dompelde me onder in de wolken die jij en ik elke dag zien, schetste ze en maakte ze daarna van ijzerdraad. Het idee achter dit monument is om een ​​moment van rust, reflectie en bezinning te vinden. Misschien, om buiten de digitale wereld te stappen en het leven te omarmen en de mensen om ons heen. Daarom zou ik graag willen dat mijn monument het begin is van een vreugdevolle wandeling door een bos. of park bijvoorbeeld. Zodra je onder dit monument staat zal de zon door de ‘wolken’ schijnen en zal een verhaal of gedicht als een schaduw op de grond verschijnen.

I created a scale model for a monument that fits in an open space. My research started with a fascination for monuments created by nature. I dived into a complicated matter of the creation of the universe. One theory tells us that life in the universe arose from cloud formation. Imagine: small dust and metal particles come together in one lump or cloud. Due to gas and the magnetic field, it keeps getting bigger and bigger. This is seen as the first step in the planet formation process.

With this (cloudy) thought in mind, I wanted to create something that fits in our world nowadays. I immersed myself in the clouds that you and I see every day, sketched them and after that, made them out of iron wire.

The idea behind this monument is to find a moment of peace, reflection and contemplation. Perhaps, to step outside the digital world and embrace life you have been given and the people you love. Therefore, I would like my monument to be the start of a more joyful walk through, for instance, a forest. Standing in this monument, the sun will shine through the clouds and a story or poem will appear as a shadow on the ground.
